UPS Expands Customized Delivery Options

UPS LogoYesterday, United Parcel Service sent an e-mail to all UPS MyChoice members that announced an additional customized delivery option available to members of UPS MyChoice services.   The upgrade allows recipients to shift parcels sent by the shipper using UPS Surepost or UPS Basic from delivery by a U.S. Postal Service carrier to delivery by United Parcel Service driver.   UPS MyChoice customers can choose to upgrade an individual UPS Surepost or UPS Basic shipment or choose to have all UPS Surepost and UPS Shipments sent to them.   UPS charges $3.50 for each shipment upgraded.  The e-mail which is included below illustrates how the new service will work.

The following chart shows that UPS MyChoice offers both a basic membership and a premium membership that costs $40. the chart shows that both levels of service offer a number of ways to customize delivery to meet a recipient’s preference. Both membership levels offer the delivery service upgrade from UPS Surepost or UPS Basic to the faster UPS ground service.

In addition to the service upgrade option, basic members get e-mail or mobile delivery alerts which include information on approximate delivery times and provide the recipient the opportunity to authorize shipment release or and have the shipment held for delivery at a UPS owned facility.  Basic members canalso  get the ability to change delivery location, deliver to a UPS store or reschedule delivery for a $5.00.

The premium membership removes the per-shipment charge for some of the options that cost $5 for basic members and adds a number of other features that increases the ability of recipients to customize delivery.

Thanks this is currently the only site on the net that explains the difference and shows the upgrade price for upgrading a surepost package to ground. UPS seems to want to keep it a secret until you give them all your information.

Thanks for taking to time to post this and have a nice day.
